Embracing the Literary Prodigy of AI and Its Possible Implementation into Sophisticated EFL Classes

Nina Kellerová, University of Trnava, Slovakia

Using literature while teaching English can be challenging, not just because of the literary language that teachers or students might find difficult, but also due to the complex literary structures or outdated vocabulary. Some teachers even try to avoid it completely, as they find it boring. Or they do not understand the complicated texts themselves and thus do not dare to embed them in their EFL classes. How about using a digital time machine and bringing the literature into the classes of the 21st century- with the assistance of artificial intelligence that is oftentimes viewed by society as a threat, instead of an aid? In my paper, I examine various AI tools beneficial for incorporating literature into EFL teaching, helping English teachers embrace creative technology and leverage digital solutions to enhance their EFL classes while also making the most of potential challenges.
