Pedagogical Implications of Using Interactive Displays in EFL Classrooms Accodring to 2020 CEFR Competences – Suggesting Activities Utilizing Interactive Displays

Patrícia Rafajdusová & Rastislav Metruk, University of Zilina, Slovakia;   Abstract: This paper attempts to explore the pedagogical implications of incorporating interactive displays into English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. The importance of interactive displays in EFL teaching, its motivational impact on students, and the advantages and disadvantages of its use in EFL lessons are discussed. This paper aims to comprehensively describe the concept of interactive displays in EFL teaching, elucidate its motivational benefits, enhance its pedagogical use, and establish its connection with the objectives of CEFR communicative competences and action-oriented approach. Moreover, the paper discusses the differences between the interactive displays and interactive whiteboards, introduces potential challenges, and identifies CEFR competences that can be enhanced through this smart device. Furthermore, practical suggestions for dealing with these challenges are mentioned. Practical activities and teaching strategies that may leverage the teaching and learning process are also provided. Overall, this paper aspires to contribute to the discourse on modernizing language teaching and to offer suggestions to educators seeking to integrate interactive displays to their teaching process.
