Collateral results of the “Digital Learning Strategies” research: Consequences of disruptive technologies and the Digital Divide

Prof. László I. Komlósi, University of Trnava, Slovakia;    Abstract:The research report aims at analyzing the connection between the impact of disruptive technologies used in educational contexts and the unforeseen danger of a widening digital gap for underrepresented segments of both young and senior citizens. Disruptive technologies have resulted in radical changes in the choices of sources of information and knowledge, access to knowledge and knowledge dissemination. Education in the Digital Age has to cope with multiple identities (even internet identities) of the learning subjects in virtual social space and develop human competences to function with virtualization and augmented virtual realities. Research on the emerging phenomenon of the Digital Divide shows the undesirable consequence of exclusion and marginalization of certain social groups in society.
