Electronic portfolio as a tool for blended learning implementation in higher education

Mgr. Zuzana Lukáčová, Prešovská univerzita v Prešove, ID Výzvy2017-534;     Abstract: Recent developments in technology have heightened the need for innovative approaches in education. Blended learning is becoming an increasingly important area in English language teaching (ELT) methodology. The issue of the incorporation of blending technologies into foreign language teaching and learning has received considerable attention. Recent evidence suggests that blended learning might fill the gap between face-to-face learning and e-learning since it combines both physical and online environments. Questions have been raised about the best strategies and tools for blended learning implementation in higher education. The aim of the study is to present electronic portfolio as one of the tools which can be used for the implementation of blended learning in higher education. Furthermore, the paper presents partial results of the pre-research phase in which a focus group method was used to obtain data through in-depth analysis. The study provides the implementation strategies for the effective use of electronic portfolio from the perspective of student teachers, which may serve as a starting point for the proper implementation of blended learning in higher education.
