INTERNATIONALISATION OF UNIVERSITIES AND TEACHER PREPARATION FOR THE GLOBAL AGE

Slovakia, ID Výzvy2016-445;     The 21st century and living in a global world has a great impact on various aspects of life in interdependent society. World around us is rapidly changing. Teachers are expected to be well prepared to teach in classrooms shaped by diversity in culture, language, abilities and other characteristics of pupils. The other challange for teachers is  to support development of new competences of pupils which enable to understand global world and to be active participants in new living conditions. Interconnected world create new framework for teachers preparation. The task of teacher training institutions is to prepare globally competent teachers. The authors of presented paper pointed out some issues linked to the global competence of teachers  and the requirements of globally competent students. Contribution is concentrated on importance of internationalisation of future teachers study. Process of internationalisation of university study is considered to be an important sign of its quality. Based on few empirical dates the authors present benefits of international study stays of students (prospective teachers) for their professional growth, teachers competences and  personal development.
