Syntactic Analysis of Translated Tourist Texts: Bridging Linguistic Structures and Cultural Interpretation

Rita Rafajlovičová, Žilinská univerzita v Žiline

Effective translation of Slovak promotional texts into English demands linguistic skill, cultural awareness, and stylistic nuance. This study explores syntactic challenges—particularly sentence structure—and highlights common errors in translations. It focuses on subordinate clause placement, the use of participles and infinitives for sentence reduction, and punctuation. Success lies in balancing accuracy with creativity to ensure the translated message remains faithful to the original while resonating with the target audience.
